Estimator – Construction Contractor

The business delivers a broad range of works including fit-out, refurbishment, maintenance, and compliance projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, secure environments, and social housing. With multiple regional offices and a strong order book, they are recognised for quality delivery, repeat business and long-term client relationships.
The Role
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team. The successful candidate will play a key role in pricing and securing new work, supporting bid strategy, and ensuring commercially robust tenders across a varied project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender documentation
- Carrying out detailed quantity take-offs and cost build-ups
- Assessing risk, value engineering opportunities, and commercial viability
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Maintaining pricing databases and supply chain relationships
- Supporting bid meetings, tender clarifications, and handovers to delivery teams
- Undertaking site visits where required to verify scope and constraints
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within UK construction, refurbishment or fit-out
- Strong commercial and numerical capability with high attention to detail
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Competent with Excel and estimating/take-off software
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Construction-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
- Experience with framework, schedule of rates or compliance-based works
