Our client is currently recruiting for an Estimator to join their busy department looking after the business development requirements.
They are a reputable and well established medium sized contractor based in Bedfordshire. They have a successful track record in delivering high quality construction projects across various sectors including commercial, education, industrial and leisure and have a strong reputation for excellence.
The Construction Estimator will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, working on both new build and refurbishment projects ranging in value from £1,000,000 to £8,000,000. Reporting directly to the Directors, the successful candidate will contribute to the overall success of the company by providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for prospective projects.
Construction Estimator Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for new build and refurbishment projects in commercial, education, industrial and leisure sectors
- Managing pre qualification, quality and pre bid submissions
- Collaborate with the bid team to develop competitive and compelling tender submissions
- Conduct thorough cost analysis, ensuring accuracy and completeness of estimates
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to embed a relationship culture and obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favourable terms
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with construction projects, proposing effective mitigation strategies
- Maintain organised and comprehensive documentation of all estimating activities
- Identifying opportunities to add value throughout the project process
- Work closely with the Managing Estimator and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives
- Supporting junior members of the estimating, surveying and pre construction team
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field preferred but not essential
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices
- Experience of pricing projects – both single and two stage tenders and negotiated opportunities
- Proficient in relevant estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and explain estimates to internal and external stakeholders
- Proven track record of delivering, work winning competitive tenders
- Taking off experience required

Salary
£50,000 - £70,000 per annum DOE
Standard hours of work are 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
